FAQs

The Delta UC2600 Oscillator Unit is a UK manufactured water driven oscillation system designed for use with fixed station fire monitors. It converts a manually operated monitor into an automatic oscillating unit, allowing unattended fire coverage in high risk environments such as offshore platforms, petrochemical plants, fuel storage sites, and industrial facilities. It is built from fully marinised bronze and stainless steel for corrosion resistance in harsh, saltwater rich conditions.

The unit is powered by the water flow itself. A pelton wheel drives a bronze gearbox, which in turn controls the monitor’s horizontal movement. The system can be pre set to specific sweep angles and oscillation speeds, allowing controlled side to side movement without operator input. This means a fixed monitor can continuously cover a defined hazard zone while remaining unattended once activated.

The main benefit is unmanned area coverage. Instead of manually sweeping a jet, the UC2600 automatically distributes water or foam across a set area, improving consistency and reducing firefighter exposure in dangerous environments. It is especially valuable for protecting fixed risks such as tanks, helidecks, loading areas, and process plant where continuous coverage is critical. It also improves efficiency by maintaining a steady, repeatable spray pattern without fatigue or operator variation.

The UC2600 typically provides an adjustable total sweep angle of around 125 degrees, with selectable oscillation speeds of approximately 5.5 cycles per minute. This allows the coverage pattern to be tailored depending on the hazard size and required protection area.
